Megan

Megan Atchley, (she/her) a New York-based violinist, passionately crafts musical experiences that deeply connect with audiences on aesthetic, political, and physical levels. She serves as the Artistic Director for the Firey Strings Company and contributes to various music projects like the ShoutHouse collective, exploring a spectrum of genres, including new music, jazz, and hip-hop. Megan’s commitment extends to education; she established and leads the violin program at Girls Prep Middle School and holds teaching positions at InterSchool Orchestras and Third Street Music School. An advocate for feminist perspectives in music, Megan presented a compelling lecture-recital on Kaija Saariaho's work at the 2011 Feminist Theory and Music Conference. Her recording repertoire spans labels like Deutsche Grammophon and ShoutHouse, showcasing her versatile artistry. Megan is an alumna of NYU Steinhardt and Ithaca College.

In 2022, Megan brought her expertise to Dimos Intuitive Arts, collaborating in a workshop on sound and sound therapy. Her visit to Dimos added a rich dimension to her journey, blending her artistic prowess with an exploration of sound's therapeutic qualities. Megan's engagement in teaching and sharing her musical knowledge in this unique setting aligns with her dedication to creating holistic experiences that resonate deeply with diverse audiences.
